HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In these trying times and humbling situations, let us be thankful for being blessed with our families and friends. May you be blessed with peace and prosperity in 2009! Glory be to God!
Cheers!
Pat’s Birthday
Today, my second daughter Patricia or Pat, as we have gotten used to calling her, turned 12. After our Sunday church service, the whole family had lunch at TGI Friday’s at Bonifacio High Street. Lunch was attended by her grandfather (my wife’s father), aunts and uncle. Of my three daughters, Pat is the most athletic which explains why she chose a Swingboard for her gift. After a few minutes practicing with the board, she got the hang of it. Way to go Pat! We are so proud of you. Happy Birthday!

Be Inspired
The church we attend, Word Community Church is sponsoring an art exhibit on October 10 and 11 for the benfit of Jonathan Nambu of Samaritana who was diagnosed with lymphoma some months back. My wife Tina and I are joining this exhibit to display some of our works over the years since we started photography. It will be a showcase of various art forms from the talents of church members. I feel so blessed to be an instrument to show God’s creations and moments through photography. And of course, to be able to help raise funds for Jonathan’s cause.
If you are within the area, do drop in. The artworks are for sale and the proceeds will go to Jonathan’s medical funds. Our address is 352 Capt. Henry Javier Street, Brgy. Oranbo, Pasig City. You can see our church on your left coming from Valle Verde Country Club if you are going towards C-5. See you there!
Here’s a sample of what you can expect to see at the exhibit.
Laptop Blues
I was hoping to get my laptop from the service center when I set up this blog site and borrowed my wife’s Mac just to have a head start. Sadly, after three weeks, the service center still has my laptop and implementing their Plan B since obviously, Plan A did not work. Not that I am making an excuse for not blogging as often as I would like, but not having my laptop brings about productivity issues blog-wise. Anyway, I borrowed by wife’s Mac once more so I can write this post.
I would like to share my experience with you. I bought my laptop around three months ago. After about two months, it began to shutdown without warning and often in the middle of what I was doing. I went to the manufacturer’s site and determined that overheating is the cause. Despite several solutions offered at the site, none applied to my situation. I bought a cooling pad hoping to fix the problem but it still persisted. I had no choice but to bring the unit over to the service center. They informed me that it will take 5 work days to fix. Three days in isolation and two days to fix the problem. After a week, I received a call informing me that a heat sink will be replaced and it will take another week. Last week, I did not receive a call so I called the service center myself. They informed me that replacing the heat sink did not work so they will replace the whole heat sink assembly. Great, I thought. It took them two weeks to find out that the whole assembly needs to be replaced. I suggested to the agent if they can replace the unit altogether instead of diagnosing the laptop the way Dr. House and his team diagnose a patient. I got a rubber stamp response saying “I’m sorry sir but we do not do that”. Sounds familiar?
And oh, by the way, its a Compaq C700 Presario (C767TU to be exact). I read in forums that this is a “budget” model but I put my trust in the brand when I made the purchase. Oh well, I am still patient enough to wait until this week. Meanwhile, I have the laptop blues with my wife telling me that I should have gotten a Mac.
